Many congratulations to Giles Scott on sailing an awesome race to retain his gold in the Finn. As the class bows out after 69 years as an Olympic class, he will forever have the distinction of being the reigning Finn Olympic champion.

In some ways retiring the Finn is a blow to team GB, as it’s a class Britain has dominated of late, with gold at every games since Ian Percy brought it home in Sydney in 2000.

Huge congratulations as well to Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell for their stunning success in the 49er. What a result.
