I'm looking for a few keen sailors who are also avid readers and would be willing to read free ARCs (advance reader copies) of 'The Gathering Storm', the first book in my Holocaust trilogy, based in Kiel in Germany. Sailing, both racing and cruising, plays a very large part in the trilogy. The second and third books are called 'The Flight of the Shearwater' and 'The Turn of the Tide.' These two books are almost ready, and will be released some time in the autumn. Free ARCs will be available to those who signed up for the first book.

There's no obligation to leave a review, but it would be greatly appreciated, as would telling as many people about the book if you like it.

The trilogy tells of the crushing effects that the rise of the Nazi party has on two close-knit German families.

Here's the Blurb:

‘Kiel, Northern Germany, 1933. A naval city, the base for the German Baltic fleet, and the centre for German sailing, the venue for the upcoming Olympic regatta in 1936.

The Kästners, a prominent Military family, are part of the fabric of the city, and its social, Naval and Yachting circles. The Nussbaums are the second generation of a family in service to the Kästners as domestic staff, but the two households have a closer bond than most.

As Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist Party claw their way to power in 1933, life has never looked better for families like the Kästners. There is only one problem.

The Nussbaums are Jews.

The story documents the devastating effect on both families of the Nazis’ ideology, and the insidious erosion of the rights of Germany's Jews, and General Erich Kästner's attempts to protect his employees, then to try and get them out of Germany when the country descends into dictatorship. The darkness which envelops their country threatens to destroy both families, as Germany tears itself apart and threatens the fragile peace in Europe.’

The ARC for the first book will be ready by the beginning of July. PM me if you are interested.

I sail a Maxi 84 on the west coast of Scotland. I'm also a coxswain on our local RNLI lifeboat.

Stay safe.

Alan.

Hi Alan, sounds like a great book. Please could you email yachtingmonthly@futurenet.com as it would be great to arrange for a review copy to be sent to our Literary Contributor Julia. Best wishes, Laura
Laura, thanks for getting in touch. I've sent an email with the ebook and a bit of information about the books, and a small author bio, for Julia. Let me know if you need anything else.
