I want to head straight out from reading into London but only hold a CRT license. Can I get a visitor license on the day from the lock staff or someone on presentation of bss, insurance, dosh etc?

You can buy a visitor licence at Caversham Lock or the first lock on the Thames that has a keeper on duty. Or you can phone the boat registration team on 03708 506 506 and they will email one to you.

You don't need any paperwork as you declare that it's in order.
