Zamia is on the hard next to my boat.
The owner has been totally blind since the age of 19.
Nevertheless, he works on the boat arriving with his guide dog and climbing a stern mounted boarding ladder that I find difficult to ascend.
He needs help exiting the boat yard, he has a large family who sometimes accompany him and help with rigging and the like where his sense of touch is not an adequate alternative to sight.
His home is in North Wales but he currently lives with one of is daughters.
I recently learned that he sailed to Barry from Falmouth with a competent skipper and his son. The skipper suffered a serious injury off Lundy and was airlifted to hospital leaving the owner and his son, who knows little about sailing, to navigate the boat to Barry for lifting out.
He intends to enter the ARC.
If we feel we have a moan, we should think of folks like him.
All power to his elbow.
