FAME in diesel

After cleaning my tank out a few weeks ago I filled it with white diesel using jerrycans. Historically, my 1GM10 has been a great starter, needing just a touch of throttle above idle and kicking into life in seconds.
Now, I need a lot more throttle and about 30 seconds on the button before it intermittently splutters into life and the revs slowly build up.
Once running it seems fine, no smoke, ticks over as smoothly as you would expect from a single-pot lump, revs and runs flat out under load no problem.
The primary and secondary filters are new and the bowl is crystal clear and free of water (which would be absorbed by the FAME anyway).
If there was air in the system I’d expect the engine to misbehave under load, but it doesn’t.

So, is FAME the culprit?
Would a Cetane improver help?
Any ideas?
