Latest PDF regards the non tidal Medway.
712 boats on the river .
216 were unregistered.
All areas visited including marinas and basins etc as well as the river bank.
Some worrying signs of non powered houseboats recently appearing on sections of the river bank, mini gardens (Rhododendrons) being planted next to the already narrow footpath along with scaffolding being driven into the bank/riverbed to provide access and enable mooring .

Inside Navigation Ed.1

Spent the weekend in Maidstone Town Centre, no problems at all ,even if the road was bit noisy during the day.
Rochester to Allington remarkably rubbish free only two lumps of timber and single 40 gallon plastic oil drum spotted.
Also loads of Herons, Cormerants and single Kingfisher spotted on the way up.
A rather large tree down across the river between the M20 bridge and the lock but Medway boaters (a real can -do bunch) will be more than capable of going round it using a device called the " helm".***
This is not the thing called a Bowthruster.
Peel Ports are responsible its removal, are aware of it, but apparently do not have the equipment to remove it.
Usual welcome at the lock from lock staff and some activity with boats going in both directions.
Quite few rowers spotted on route but we have a device to sort this , its called a throttle and magically enables you to slow the boat down which always ensures a wave from the cox. :)

What a comprehensive and useful report. Would be great to have something similar for the Thames

Saw the plastic oil drum going up as i was going downriver on Saturday lunchtime. I did wonder how long the tree had been down and how long it will stay there. Still very wary of all the reed mat islands floating up and down, they tend to harbour larger prop killers lurking within.
What is your boat? can she squeeze under east farleigh?

Its a Princess 35. With all the junk down we have an airdraft of 11ft. This means we can get under both Maidstone town centre bridges ( and Windsor/ Desborough Cut ) but not East Farleigh due to arch width.
Our previous boat was frequently taken up to the pile moorings just below East farleigh lock with great care going up about mid way due to "something" mid stream on the bottom .
The club has taken some quite big boats up to Allington in the past.
