Eberspacher 701 Modulator/Controller

My eberspacher airtronic heater turns on by itself (apparently). All the programs are set to "off" on the 701 controller and without pressing the on button (3 flame symbol) the heater comes on at times that seem to bear no relation to anything that was previously set. The "c" (for continuous) symbol is on and I'm wondering if this is the cause. If it is I have no idea how to switch it off. (i can't find it in the instructions)

Does it stay cold when it comes on.

No it heats up to whatever temperature setting is on the controller. The only way I can turn it off is reduce the temp setting to absolute minimum and even then it will come on if the temperature is very cold.
