I'v just received a emai in duplicate (I must be important) From Maria H with rivre restrictions around Windsor for this week. Mebe for obvious reasons - but the consensus / press releases indicate that there will be no public ceremony or procession as a result of Covid restrictions.

Does EA know something different??

Another strange facility offered by EA for this notice is the use of VHF channel 74 - who on earth uses VHF on the upper Thames nowadays oe even this century??
I installed a set when we started boating on the Thames and never found any conversation - so I took it out. Similarly on the tidal bit it was easier to use a mobile for the transit forl Limehouse to Teddington.
(I appreciate that visitors from the Mudway and beyond would use it - but did any one call TL and get a response???)

We went to Windsor Saturday, had a police and an Environment Agency escort heading upstream between Old Windsor lock and Romney lock!

It did not hold us up at all, we were the only boat heading upstream at that time.
Arrived in Windsor around noon, this was the Brocas:

Did EA jump the gun? Or are they attempting to bully boaters with a show of force...
Everything happened either within the Castle or the grounds.
Not a drop of (river) water in sight.

I hope many folks watched the service and the parade. It was beautiful.
No fuss
No noise.

I wonder at what time you went up? The TV shots at about 4.30pm showed the Brocas in the background and it was completely full of boats.

Definitely OTT with the escorts, whilst we were being escorted upstream several boats were unescorted heading downstream.
Maybe there was some intel necessitating the escorts, who knows. Was a huge amount of activity around home park, loads of cars, tents, coaches etc so there was a need for some increased security. No issues from us, just added interest.
