Did the school run today ( mini adventure ) Part 1

First day back at school today for miniskip

tide is in 2.30pm school is out a 3pm sun is shining and the old girl is waiting is that swmbo or the binnie well hey ho it can be confusing

well seemed to me the shool run had to be done a la river

as most of you know we are in isleworth what you dont know miniskip goes to school in twickers

2.30 pm boat is ready to go and so is swmbo ( a miracle I will say )

we cast off from our mooring on the river crane and reverse out towards the isleworth ait this can be tricky as when you come out the tidal current hits you and there are 2 large posts which can be difficult to get past

Now in center stream and put her into forward gear and off we go as we swing round the pontoon we are called to action stations !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ????????????

Did the school run today ( mini adventure ) Part 2

Ok here is part 2

as we came round the Pontoon we came across a rather large steel vessel adrift the skipper asks for a tow to the pontoon only 20 metres or so but we are small and light as opposed to the other vessel which is 40 ish foot steel and heavy well the line was thrown to swmbo and with some difficulty we got her over and alongside to the pontoon

turns out the skipper had run out of fuel could happen to anyone

after this daring rescue we turned about and headed upstream to richmond.
basking in the warm late summer sun we are at peace with the world we pass some narrow boats through there all who give us a friendly wave as they pass

as we continue we see people fishing sunbathing and enjoying the river even a paramedic is parked up at the ham slipway eating his sandwiches on a well deserved break

at Ham there is a fella who lives on what can only be described as a contraption which is made from scaffold poles and floats on barrels well he is out and about on his tender with his black Labrador who jumps from the tender and swims across on his own

Now we come to eel pie island where Miniskip and his pal Josh are waiting they come on board and off we go at a leisurly pace downstream we spotted Forbsie lurking behind his missing planks and carried on passing more narrowboats some rafted up while underway and a rowing boat reminicent of three men and a dog or is it boat ? anyway they had all the gear on board

back to Isleworth round the ait and moored up total time approx 1 hour and No passage plan /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
