EA have just announced that (in effect) Culham Cut will be closed fron 9 to 5 on weekdays during September.
That's a pain for folks who use the upper bits of the River in the late season and who want to avoid the hire boat rush

Fairly eay to avoid but spoilt by very few places to moor (if any) between Abingdon and Clifton
End of whinge.

Se the EA closures page for details

Barmy. Unbelievable poor value for money spent on EA licence this year. If this is planned maintainence, and not emergency works, the EA should give up, they clearly have no idea how to manage the river. We only are getting a few months to use the river and the inept EA want to close part of it?

For once I support EA on this one.
(I've no idea whether it was on the lisy of things to do but coldn't because of distancing, or whether it's a job that has recently raisde its head)
However you can still use the river, it just means passing by at weekends or an early morining / evening journey down the cut.
Just slightly inconvenient.
As it's out of season there'll still be room at Abingdon for tall cruisers.

If you think EA is bad, have a look at CRT.

So what do we pay our licence for? Most "seasons" include September, as this one didn't start to early July this is an unbelievable decision by the EA. Clearly no idea how people use their boats.

More information suggests you can pass at certain times - mainly lunch time and potentially other times if divers are not in the water.

It's nine to five with an hour luncbreak. You an pass through out of hours and at lunchtime.
I suggest it's not difficult to work around that scheme.
Treat yourself - moor up on the layby and have a look at the village....
