Just got my daily email from BoatTEST.com and BRP has decided to stop manufacturing Evinrude engines.

A real pity, my first outboard was an Evinrude and it taught me heaps about how to keep a simple 2 stroke running. As a kid growing up in Australia my tinny and engine were brilliant ways of learning how to cope with things myself. The sailing dingy helped too!

That's such a pity, their current range of fuel injected two strokes had proven that in certain applications that require high power to weight ratios such as outboards and off-road motorcycles four strokes are over complicated, underpowered and too heavy.

I am told, I believe quite reliably (by an Evinrude dealer) that old man Evinrude designed the original o/b so that he could nip across the lake in order to give his lover two strokes. Very possibly more? I salute you, Mr Evinrude.
