Out from Dover last Saturday helping to bring a Fairline back to Rochester , first time out of the ferry Port.
No real drama, Port Control were very helpful, basically, once out of locked inner harbour, go to reporting point and wait.
As soon as a gap between ferries, they tell you if you want to go, go .
Wanting to to clear the entrance a bit sharpish, open the throttles and off we go.
As we clear the wall it becomes clear that its going to be a bumpy ride.
After about a hour, suspect we have a problem, the RPM on both engines is dropping slowly but inexorably .
By the time we have reached Ramsgate the revs have dropped from 2400 down to 1600.
Easy decision, divert in Ramsgate. Port engine fails just as we berth.
Owner goes down the following day the filters are full of crud.
The previous owner assured the new owner the boat had been serviced 12 months previously and the boat had not moved since.
Back down today to collect boat and off we go, still that blimming East wind but dead calm, so we take the inshore route and the 4 Fathoms channel.
Arrive frozen, but owner pleased to have finally got his boat home.
Few club boats have gone up to Burnham on Crouch, suspect they might be coming home early.
