Unusual thread. Close in diamter and pitch to M7.

I'm a bit of a thread nerd.

Close, but no coconut. I tried an M7 die on my 9/32" (7.14mm) dia rod. It was a bitch to cut and when I tried it it bound after several turns, yet still 'wobbled'. I need approx 70mm of thread length to secure things properly. My little bit of research found 9/32" 24TPI, UNF threadform, was used on early Harley Davidson motorcycles. Pretty sure I've cracked the problem with a pinched 5/16" split die.
