I got a copy for my birthday, and it's an excellent read. I happen to have done detailed work on part of the 1843 Antarctic expedition - the discovery of what we now call "James Clark Ross Island", Seymour Island and Snowhill Island. I found that Ross' navigation was of the highest standard, agreeing closely with the most current map of the area. I was (slightly) disappointed that Michael Palin disn't spenf more time on that part of Erebus' long career!
