Some time ago I asked what sort of boat was featured on "The Spy Who Loved Me". Here's a clip of the boat....

Somebody kindly posted that it was a Colombo and I believed this to be true at the time. However, I recently came across a Classified ad that states that the boat is an Intermarine 40 and it was kept on the Thames!!!!....

There's a little more history here....

http://www.sportsboat.co.uk/forum/index.php?f=3&t=1217&start=0&rb_v=viewtopic

Then it appears that someone was trying to ship it to Oz....

Or maybe not....

Can someone confirm that the Bond boat is in fact an Intermarine or better still does anyone know where it ended up?

Pete

The boat pictured in your post and the movie clip boat seem to be the same boat pete. The hull windows and radar arch must be later additions, but the other detials look the same. Do you still have the boatshed pics (the link no longer works)? I'd like to know if the Thames boat has the 10 inch long stainless horizontal mullion in the small piece of curved windscreen glass, that you can see clearly in the vid at 0.18

It's definitely hotel Cala di Volpe. I went in that little harbour in my tender in summer 2009, though I made a bit less wake than the Atlantis taxi :)

Thanks for the vid anyway. Nice to see Barbara Bach

Indeed but look at the 30 or so pics on the Boatshed ad and it really is/was in a sorry state.

I remember looking at the advert and thinking where did the money that the guy claimed to have spent actually go? It appeared in all the photos to be thoroughly shedlike, and for the scrap value of the engines and jetdrives worth about half what he was asking. Neglected high performance marine diesels (they were big Cummins V8s IIRC, 855s) are almost invariably a big pit into which you can pour money to no useful purpose. Pretty boat though, renovated and re-engined with some new Cummins QSBs it would be a beast.

Not sure if this is the detail that you want or if the link will work jfm (I'm on iPod)....

The windscreen is probably the most striking design feature. If I recall right Colombo's have similar detailing hence my original belief that this was a Colombo.

You can view all the Boatshed pics by registering on their site (free). The other pics are interesting too (I hope they are pre restoration)! One of the pics shows jet drives would they be original?

Thanks Pete. Yup, that is identical detailing. The Thames boat has a s/s handrail on the foredeck but that could have been added later. The windscreen detailing is pretty unique.

I know my way around the boatshed website and i am registered, but when I clicked the link to the boat last night it said it had been sold and hence the ad was withdrawn and so I couldn't view the pictures

I'll take any opportunity to post this clip:

I know that one of the boats is Peri (Long cabin huntress fitted out by Lallows) and another is Here and Now, both still around, I'm not sure of the identity of the other 3.

The all white Bond getaway Huntress is not the one that was in the motorboat museum at Basildon, the Basildon boat was ex Navy and a mock up of the film boat.

No boats were destroyed, the fires were shot in a tank using mock ups.

Barbara Bach brings back memories of her brother Matt Goldbach who used to be in the IT business in the '80's and I used to import his products.

A rather crazy guy but threw some great parties in LA and of course a very attractive sister whose husband was Ringo Starr.

Apologies to all for the thread drift!

I was at the Bond museum a few years ago where the curator was excitedly telling me that they were bringing the Fairey Huntress up from Basildon, I didn't have the heart to tell him it wasn't the original.
The actual Huntress was repainted after filming with the traditional Fairey blue and white. It then raced under the name Fairey Huntress (original). I think it competed in the Cowes Torquay race. I'm not sure of it's current whereabouts, although a few years ago in the Fairey Owners Club magazine there was a photocopy of a house for sale advert. It was a waterside property in Chelsea that had it's own pontoon which it described as coming complete with James Bond's boat! It was a Fairey Huntress but I'm not sure if it was the actual one.

Looking at the pictures on boatshed I think they were taken at least two years ago because they have the old crane ( lift out pics) possibly 4 years.
