I've had both but when the WG needed replacement due to age I decided to ditch it completely because:
Output very low compared to solar
Doesn't work well sailing down wind
Can be noisy and vibrate
Requires maintenance
The biggest argument for a WG over Solar is that solar doesn't work at night...
I don't know about yours, but my mast doesn't transmit 😁
If you're thinking about shielding, I guess it depends on the mounting arm length more than the radial direction of antenna to mast.
If it's anything like my SL Seawolf (up only) it has what looks like a bearing near the motor but is a one-way locking clutch.
See item 32 here: http://montymariner.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Odds&Ends/S-L-Seawolf-Windlass.pdf
Sail solo so saloon on passage so I can hear any alarms and poke my head up for the occasional look round, check sails and do a long range scan on the instruments. At anchor, aft cabin on a lateral double I sleep like a log.
That picture looks like it's using standard mate n loc pins

Buy an extraction tool to get them out.
PS just looked at the price of an extractor - some are eye watering!
If the micro SD card you insert is generic and not unique to Raymarine then the extender should be ok.
An extender is quite cheap, so you could buy one and give it a go.
Have you looked into the possibility that just one of the batteries is dragging the bank down?
I would run on one battery at a time and see how they perform.
I would use a short length of plastic tube / conduit that the connection will slide into, then squeeze sealant into both ends.
The 'Monogel' would be good but it's an expensive solution for a small one time job.
Last year I emailed a 1331 on departure. On return I had heard about the online link and tried to use but it wouldn't accept it as I hadn't booked out online.
I phoned the Southampton(?) office, it was 3AM , and the duty guy sorted it for me. He was very helpful and I was extremely grateful.
Side loads are minimal, launching - someone guides the trailer, recovery - the trailer follows the rope direction so unless the slip goes around a bend the rope horizontal angle is less than about 5 degrees.
