I bought one of these in the cold of last spring in the hope it would keep me dry when working on the Canal and now with Scottish weather back to normal it is in use every day.
Really impressed with it so now it is my favourite when I go sailing too.
Plus points; it is rainproof, never been wet inside it, it is warm but really breathable, the work I do is very physical and it does not make me sweat, it does not shed rain water on to my trousers, the long tail drips directly to ground, the cordura type tail is durable and grippy when I push wet lock swing bars with my bum. The zips are good and the pockets are sensibly placed, accessible but dry. I have not really tried the hood as I prefer a cap but the collar zips right up but still lets you breath and turn your head. Effective seals on the cuffs. Really ergonomic, allowing good freedom of movement when grinding or steering.
Only £80, it puts stuff much more than double the price to shame. Someone has had a good think about the design.
Only two downsides so far after a lot of heavy use, I chose red and it is already looking a bit grubby from continual daily contact with greasy lock gates and new paint. The other is that I have to be careful jumping off my bike, if you are not sitting on the tail it can catch on the seat, though this entertains my spectators.
Really worth a look if you are thinking of a new jacket.

Anything I have bought from Decathlon has been good, I’ll take a look at these on Saturday as my 20+ year old Henry Lloyd jacket is getting a bit threadbare.

( the new HL stuff seems very flimsy in comparison to my trusty old stuff...)

I also bought one. Red too. Mine has been to Rockall and back and the Faroes and back over the last couple of seasons. This year spent most of the season tucked under the sprayhood.
Not sure why but it is usually the shoulders that leak with me maybe something to do with lifejacket abrasion. But that's nearly three years and totally watertight. One moan is the placement of the "handwarmer" pockets. Too high up.
My jacket is more than capable of keeping me dry and warm with adequate under layers.
At the price they are an absolute steal. I wouldn't contemplate buying any of the 'expensive' brands.

I was in Decathlon in Milton Keynes earlier this week and didn't see any sailing stuff. Is it only some branches (or on-line ordering) which have these jackets?

As Aja says, try Braehead, there is an aisle beyond the hiking stuff with camoeing etc. one side and sailing on the other.

We bought one of each (900 and 500) when we passed through Portsmouth (shop near Port Solent) earlier in the year, and agree with everything that has been said about them. Completely waterproof, very warm, only small complaint on the 900 is that the zip is sometimes hard to get started, but no problem with the 500.

You need to try them on in a shop as the sizes seem to be randomly related to reality. :)

Overall, excellent jackets and very good value.

Went in to Braehead Decathlon today to have a look at the 500 on the way to Ireland for a holiday. Liked the look, feel and fit of them and thought I’d drop some subtle hints about Xmas prezzies...

As I drove off towards the ferry I realised I’d forgot to chuck my waterproof jacket in the car when I left home at a quarter to sparrow-fart this morning...

Swift hand brake turn and I’m now the owner of a new jacket.

Bought a Decathlon jacket 5 or so years ago , still giving good service but now decidedly grubby faded pink colour. Am very cold little soldier but jacket has kept me warm over the years on the flybridge of boat. Remains coat of choice for winter .
