I don't have any experience with those kits, but you'll also need an air filter (876185) and crankcase breather (876069) or equivalent for a complete service. Also is there a primary fuel filter? (e.g. FleetGuard? can't remember).

Those prices are a bit steep, can get genuine filters and impeller with some quality branded oil for about that, ring round the dealers for a quote as I have usually been given a discount on service parts.

Who have you got those from as you say ?

Thanks

Dennis

Usually get the dealer wherever I am based to do service (have been to many over the years) I sometimes mail order spares from either Volspec, Prior Diesel or Darthaven, there’s probably been others but can’t think now, give them a try and see who’s offering the best discount, not had a boat for a couple of years now so not bought anything recently.

Have you tried Prior Diesel Dennis? As a Sealine Forum member you can get discounted prices - I haven't tried them yet but from what others say they appear to be competitive.

When we last had Volvos used Keypart so maybe another to try?

For the kad 32 (and others ) the air filter is a Volvo 240 car part costing less than a fiver each from euro car parts.
The crank case filters are easily a two or three year intervals to replace and are about a tenner each.
Oil and fuel filters are much cheaper if bought as reputable brands but without Volvo Penta printed on them . Try inline filters and partsandfilters . The latter were very slow delivering but cheap .
However I do but the Volvo Penta belts and impellers and have never had a problem.

Shell Rimula RT4X oil is hardly a compromise but if bought as a 20 litres container cheaper than probably the same oil in a VP tub. Other equivalent oil even cheaper.
It may be a little here and there but the cost savings add up. I order a job lot of filters as it makes sense with postage costs. Bear in mind also some retailers have minimum order value.

I’ve only ever bought mpi diz caps and rotors from them every year for the last 3 Year’s. one of them failed after 2 hours running time just a few weeks ago. A local boat dealer then told me he had heard a few issues with them recently. Would hate to spread bad press about them otherwise but just my experience.
For all other parts I use splash marine and pacer marine.
For my older VP I went the cross reference route through car motor factors. Saved a fortune.

How do you do the cross reference route ?

And thats free to collect locally or free delivery if you can wait a few days
Which compares with £23.94 for the genuine VP part (Keypart price) and that is without any delivery charges.

And that’s why I don’t buy genuine parts from Keypart, you can get a better deal from VP dealers which i would suspect is where they buy from.
