Somebody seems to be seriously pissed with his new San Lorenzo boat

http://sanlorenzo-sucks.com/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYCosLuiDuI

Speaking personally and as some of you know, I bought my current boat, a used Ferretti, from San Lorenzo (it was a trade in) and it was the best boat buying experience I've ever had

Having said that, I think its excellent that the internet gives everybody an opportunity to name and shame if they deserve it

I forgot to say that the website is a bit clunky but go the GALLERY section and click on each individual photo for a pic and explanation of every individual issue

Btw I dont know who this boat belongs to and I have no connection with the owner or his friend who apparently put this website up

Kin ell ! every day is a friday at that factory then . I have always wondered how people who sell boats sometimes forget , that the people who can afford to buy boats are usually wise enough to see when things are not correct .

When agreeing a build of that magnitude , I would have thought of hiring an agent ,with property an architect .
Ok they are on a % ,so an add on .
But with property “ the agent “ / project manager — call him what you want ? — have clout and normally need them to sign off/ give the ok for the stage payments etc .
Write in a delay penalty too -
So what exactly did the surveyor do here ? Just waltz round with a camera phone ?
Seriously there must be a happy medium .
Top of my head get it built to a classification of some sort , so somebody from officialdom comes n checks it’s all up to spec etc liases with builders and the paymaster .

I,am a loss how naive the poster for me seems to have been .
Get an agent to act on your behalf .Have it done to a classification ,presume that society will send its own folks to sign off .
Fund the above .
Or as a 1/2 measure do your due diligence — suss out all this subcontractors stuff and take a view before committing.
Ideally you want a builder for a 100 ftr that does as much as poss in house .

Aside my 0:02 p worth , the pics are truly shocking really .

Looks like a terrible build but I also hope the owner and his friend realise that he will probably get little sympathy from people who could never afford such a project or perhaps he does not care about that.

Still an appalling build however

I will start my post here that something is suspicious to me about all this, having showed and sold Sanlorenzo's in the past, and also had clients who bought them over the years, something does not feel right.
And even after selling the SL many of them say its the best yacht they ever had bar none. Some of the people I know who owned Sanlorenzo's came from Ferretti, Princess, Fairline etc etc and all of them bar none said the boat was a step above.

The problems I am seeing to fully credit this video is that SLS does not name the model of the boat, and the Ferretti advert at the bottom.
None the less I conclude that I have seen this behavior in the past from boat builders especially when an owner needs a boat to be ready for the Monaco Grand Prix or else I sue you.
May-June-July are panic dates for boat builders with everyone wanting the boat on the date to be ready on the day or order, some even before.
That hardly happened with less custom brands let alone with SL.

I wondered what the Italian marine league marketing department might say.
I think it's a little disingenuous to immediately suggest this is a) in someway the owners fault and b) suggest it's perfect reasonable for a big yard to make these sort of mistakes (I'm being generous) because they are busy it because an owner has asked for a yacht delivered by a date. A yard should only commit to what's possible and if the iwbercrealky dies want it by a date that means it's not possible the yard should not take the commission.

Everyone makes mistakes and lets face it boat building is still basically a cottage industry but some of the practises shown in the website are pretty shocking. If it were a fairline or a princess or sunseeker or broom I'd be saying the same thing

So would I.
Then again, I would also specify that I smell a rat, regardless of the builder nationality.

Most of the time, whenever I receive emails from someone appearing anywhere near what you can find in the "contact" section of that website, it's either for selling penis enlargement tricks or offering to transfer several million dollars to my bank account.
Indeed, ransom is the word that constantly sprung to my mind while browsing that website, so I thought to make a whois on it - the result is attached below, just to save time to anyone interested to have a look.
Draw your own conclusions...

@PYB: I didn't check all the website details because I got bored after a while, but fwiw I came across a bulbous bow pic whose label mentioned the SD112.
Not that this makes any difference, I reckon - the attack is clearly to the brand, rather than a specific model.

MapisM,
You already know this, but a .com whois query means nothing. I can register a .com with registrant details of "Micky Mouse, Disneyland, Paris"

Only ones in my line of work that you need to be somewhat honest with is the .ie as the IEDR (.ie domain registrant) don't just hand out .ie domains (has to be similarity to your name / business... i'm sure other countries are also like that, but .com not so)

I know you can, but how many of us would think of using Hitler rather than Mickey Mouse as a registrant name? :ambivalence:

It does look a bit suspicious. It's got a Czech address, a Dutch telephone number and a Russian email address. There is also a Latvian connection at the bottom.

Think I may have been duped, along with many others in this thread.

But why would anyone bother to do that if they are not genuinely pissed off with SL and where do the photos come from? Btw this is not the first time I have heard that SL quality can be 'variable' these days

Btw I say again that I have no connection whatsoever with this and that my personal experience with SL was first class
