Can you paint treadmaster

I am looking at a yacht, really lovely, but it has brown treadmaster all over the deck that ruins the looks. It should be white or off white. Can you paint it, and with what?

Treadmaster do their own paint. It isn't cheap and reports of it's effectiveness vary.

Why white? Will look awful as Treadmaster has a porous surface due to the cork content so white will almost never look 'clean'. If you can't live with the colour, it may be more economical to walk away.

In my experience Treadmaster paint is certainly durable. It may be fine on the traditional diamond pattern, but don't even think of using it on smooth Treadmaster ..... it becomes treacherously slippery and when you've realised your mistake the only option is to sand it off ... leaving the Treadmaster even smoother.

I tried at great expense treadmaster paint. It lasted less than a year. Decided to redo it with Greek masonary paint, grey. It was great and lasted 3 years before starting to fade.

I had a patch of grotty blue diamond treadmaster on Jissel's lazarette cover. When I was painting the rest of the boat, I took a belt sander and sanded off the diamonds, which was a filthy job - the dust went everywhere, then gave it a couple of coats of deck paint. It's too early to comment on durability, but so far it looks fine and gives at least as good grip underfoot as the original.

It certainly isn't something I'd want to tackle for a large area, though. To my mind, a lot of grotty DM is something to walk away from unless the boat is otherwise ideal and the price reflects the work involved in removing it.

As far as colour is concerned, I wouldn't want all white - it's too glarey on the odd sunny day. Jissel's now white, with beige deck paint from Premier Marine Paints: http://discountantifoul.com/. When it first went on, the Admiral thought it was too yellow - it's a long way short of buttercup, but it's too rich and sunny for a beige, but I liked it from the off and on a dull cloudy day, recently she remarked what a happy colour it was, so I think I've won that one (doesn't happen often ).

I'd planned on using Snowcem, but someone on here recommended Premier and, at their prices, I figured I may as well use the real thing.

Brown Treadmaster, over time, lightens to a pleasing salt and pepper shade and this process can be speeded up by pressure washing it. Believe me, I regret re-painting mine and can't wait for the winter haul out to get the washer on it ....

I didn't have much success with the special Treadmaster paint (on diamond pattern TM) - it faded and cracked within a year.

Now I just use Interdeck deck paint on the Treadmaster and it lasts as well as it does on any surface i.e. very well.

Same here, my blue diamond pattern TM is painted with sand coloured Interdeck

IIRR Kiwi can't be used on treadmaster. Memory fails me but I'm pretty sure I contacted their tech dept in the past and was warned off.

This post was well timed as I was planning to recoat my treadmaster in the wheelhouse, so tried Interdeck as you suggested and very happy with the results!

Its dry now but Leaving it for 5 days as other post suggests to harden before walking on it!

Some time ago I bought some colour restoring dye for my sprayhood and spilt a bit on the TM. Strangely enough it seems to work.
