After 3 emails where I have expressed a wish to buy a particular sail, I had 1 reply to my initial query (confirming that it was still for sale) but no reply to any emails concerning how best to pay and arrange for delivery ???
Obviously they are so busy, they don't need any more business !!!
If that's their response to an offer to buy, I don't reckon much to my chances of a reply should I have a problem !
Has anyone any experience of dealing with this 'outfit' ?

I went to Saturn Sails (in Largs) over Christmas after putting the deck brush through the spray hood window while bushing snow off the deck. They replaced both windows and also any dodgy looking poppers (which I hadn't asked them to do) in less than 24 hours and just charged us for the windows.

So I had great service from them...may be it's just you :p

:D

I've bought numerous sails from Saturn over the years and their service has always been fantastic. I've found them very good to deal with, either by email or phone. I suspect they've had some problem getting back to you.

I would try giving them a ring.

Not recently, but I have had dealings with them in the past and experienced very good service from them on each occasion.

Perhaps they are busy with all the blown sails, damaged spray hoods and dodgers due to the recent inclement weather. They will be receiving requests for quotes, probably form all over the place as well as rushing about taking measurements.

They are a good sail maker and I have found them to be customer focused. Give them a call. If its not easy to call from your location, then PM me and I can call for you if you wish.

That could explain it ! Never thought of that
Thanks for the offer to call but I have skype, so will try to call them directly.

Only good things to say about them.If you remember last year I had huge oroblems with Andy Malcolm Yachting (I suppose he's still taking deposits and then failing to deliver?) . After that was sorted(as much as it could be ,I spoke to John at Saturn. He measured same day and produced a new main in 5 weeks( he'd said six) at their busiest time, just before West Highland Week.

They've probabl;y heard about you------:D

Yes they generally do a good job but their customer service when you have a problem or enquiry is non existent. I sent an email to them over a week ago regarding some missed work on a repair they did for me and not a peep even after a second email. How long does a simple acknowledgment email take to say they will deal with the enquiry?

I don't know what it is about that part of the world, but I have noticed that as a general rule, boaty companies on that part of the Clyde don't respond well to email. Given that I am 400 miles away, and that the phone isn't always a good option (mobile communications on that coastal strip tend to be poor, and when you need to talk to people who actually do the work, they tend to be out on pontoons or yachts!), I find this frustrating, to say the least!

However, I back up all that has been said about Saturn; I haven't bought sails from them, but John set up my rigging, taught me a lot in doing so, and will be welcome to do it again!

Its all well that ends well then.
Don;t forget an e-mail from East Africa asking for Bank details is likely to get ignored. Or have I miised a joke in the thread?

Decided to phone today to chase up the email, got an apology for not resoponding and they'd look into it. Had to resend the email but then they called back and sorted the problem to my satisfaction. Shame I had to chase but as above, all is well with the world now. :D
