    Pin Mill frenzy

Worthwhile walking round back of sheds to see what Gus's son Tom is up to - some wonderful restorations January last year + new build wooden smacks boat back then.

    Clacton and Walton Lifeboats

At Titchmarsh. It was there a large % anyway. It would then be for filling her legacy.

    Clacton and Walton Lifeboats

Juan Twothree, you seem to defend the RNLI's actions re Walton - how do they justify not using the old lady's legacy as being for the Walton lifeboat?

    Boo less lug sail?

The 12' smacks boats/14' barge boats have a balanced lug (ie with a boom not fixed to the mast) which work well.

    Boatbuilder needed

Would this be James Oxley? He works from a yard at Kirby Le Soken but also does a lot of bits in the marina at Titchmarsh - great worker & great sailor. I have had a shipwright working for me three mornings a week at Titchmarsh for several years now, she hasn't got a yard but can access...

Anchoring Adventures in The Walton Backwaters

Interesting you call it "Honey Island" - this is what is noted on the charts (well was last time I bought them). Locally I have only heard it called "Honeypot Island". There is a Honeypot Lane reasonably close by. When we anchor there I drop the hook very close to the island so we lie between...

    Insurance renewal shock

I got worried re I couldn't remember when I'd last had a survey done - emailed Noble Marine and they now don't require surveys for boats under 26'. It seems they don't include/not worried about the bowsprit.

    ATYC Memorabilia

I have been given a large package of ATYC memorabilia by one of the granddaughter of Nobby Pearce (who founded the ATYC). We had hoped to find the cine films which Nobby used to do film nights at the TMYC and other clubs but no luck so far.

    Lifting centre board

There doesn't seem to be any tube as such, but the black part of the fitting is 1.004" diameter. Mine has the wire proud of the whole fitting and a SS flange, which is not original.

    Lifting centre board

The pulley appears to be in two parts, screwed together. I've left the cover off so any more details needed, let me know.
